Fear: an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm. When do we feel afraid? We feel so scared in situations where we do not feel comfortable at all, we tend to shrink, and we feel vulnerable. With fear comes sadness and the feeling of despair, and our living soul begins the journey of its death, deducting our happiness, day by day. It can be the fear of failing in a school test or fear of having a traumatic accident or fear of competition in a race, but the major one is the fear of not being up to people’s expectations, and that brings a lot of stress and anxiety. Our brain goes into the mode of disquietude, that not only ruins your present but kind of cripple your future planning.
Life was given us around a billion years ago, and it gave us a community to have a social life, so we can interact with each other, grow and learn, do amazing things for each other to make others happy, we are not supposed to live in solitude or otherwise, we won’t be any different from robots. Generally, our situations make us live in seclusion and alone. With a single species, comes population, with population, comes chaos, with chaos comes jealousy, and with envy comes competition, the competition to become better than others, live a better life than others. The motivation comes naturally when you have people around to compete.
Gratification from another being is what gives us more fuel to do things these days. And social media is just another tool that helps us do that more significantly in our lives. No matter how much we tell other people that we don’t care, but deep down, we do, we like to be seen and noticed.
The madness begins when we dedicatedly start following others to get their approval, which they don’t even ask for. We feel happier when we get a compliment, or a specific group of people accepts us the way we are, but sometimes, we have to become just like the group to get approved.
It is debatable whether we should follow the herd, or make our ways. Because sometimes, when we are alone, we take steps and actions from a single perspective and are suppose to make mistakes, and we are naturally afraid to make those mistakes, so we follow the herd, which might be right or wrong or both.
We are Afraid
We are afraid of each other about what they will think about us? What thoughts do they have when they think about us? Are we that coward, that we are afraid of people who are just like us?
We should not be afraid. We should embrace other weaknesses and should strive for better things, like working together to tell the government giving a better education or something productive that will help our species to become only better.
As I mentioned earlier, society is supposed to make us a better person. Unity is what makes us stronger. If we are not thriving for a better ecosystem together and just following the show of power and happiness from money, and then we are not thriving at all, we are on the path of degrowth.
As much I know, that is what nature is mostly aware of, the nature is aware of the selfish actions that we do in bits, but in massive volumes. Humans impact the physical environment in many ways: overpopulation, pollution, burning fossil fuels, and deforestation. Changes like these have triggered climate change, soil erosion, poor air quality, and whatnot. We need to understand that nature has its course to run, it has its air to breathe, this article is not about how human beings are affecting nature in a wrong way, but it is about how much we have already changed something where life was born, something which was just like our parent, but we still hurt it every day. I wonder if people like us can do so badly to something our very own, then what we can do to people who live around us.
Society should welcome innovation for good rather than a stereotype for old, remembering its ancient history and values at the same time, and should understand that we become invincible when we are together, in every situation we go through. No bits of technology and social media era can steal it from us. It brings us together for a reason, to evolve into a better and a higher form. To become something that no other species in the local group is even capable of.
